14th Annual
Darrell Gwynn Golf Classic
November 23 (Pembroke
Pines, FL) – A picture perfect south Florida day was the setting for the 14th
Annual Darrell Gwynn Golf Classic, which took place at the Grand Palms Golf
and Country Club on November 22nd.
People Against Drugs returned as Title Sponsor of the event, and
newcomer, Orange Petroleum participated as the event shirt sponsor.
Luck and skill was on the
side of three teams who traditionally attend the event.
The foursome of Mike Eggeling, Pat Eggeling, Chad Angell and Ron Ruffner
took first place, with a close second place showing by the foursome of Wayne
Batten, Dave Clauss, Richard Edwards and Tracy Henning.
Third place was won by the foursome of Chris Sisto, Joe Higgins, Eric
Dillon and Tony Martarelli.
The post-tournament dinner
and auction was hosted by veteran NHRA Announcer/ESPN Commentator, Bob Frey.
Bob auctioned off several unique items such as a Simpson helmet
autographed by 2003 stars of the NHRA, a MAC Tools toolbox autographed by stars
of NASCAR, a Goodyear Blimp ride for four, and other autographed memorabilia.
The evening ended with a
total income of over $43,000.00.
Proceeds of the Darrell
Gwynn Golf Classic benefit the Darrell Gwynn Recovery Fund, established to help
subsidize Darrell's ongoing physical therapy, medications, medical
supplies, and attendant care costs, not covered by any insurance.
